Road Trip Review - Week 6

Let's review!

  • The total distance to Troutville is 997 km
  • We have 170 days until December 31, 2013 (the end date) and that means we need to walk   5.8  km a day.
  • Our daily, everyday walking counts, but only up to half of our required distance (so 2.9 km)
  • Each 30 minute of non walking/running exercise counts as 0.5 km, up to 3.2 km of our total

Ok, so if you check out Julie's blog, you will see, she adds this funky little map that shows her where she is from home.  She sent me the step by step instructions on how to do it and basically, I am so inept, I cannot figure it out.  I haven't given up, but it's not simple enough for me to be confident that I have it worked out to post.  I think?!?! I am somewhere near St. Catherines, ON.

I must fill you in on a little point that just further confirms how dumb I am at geography.  I always think everything is more North of me.....like for some strange reason, I figured that in order to meet her half way from Florida, I would need to go "up" on the map!  FACE PALM!  Then I looked at the map and was totally shocked that the route took me "down"  OF COURSE IT DOES DUMMY!  Heck, I have even been to Florida and I KNOW the USA is below Canada...why is it that it didn't occur to me.

Anyway, I am still behind, but SLOWLY catching up.  My favorite number to write each week is my KM TO GO!  It's great to see that number going down!

Thanks to my walking partner Julie, it turns out I am not in and about St. Catherines, but have actually left Canada and am slugging around Buffalo!  She even did me up my maps so you can see....she's awesome I tell ya!

Non-Scale Victory # 13

It's been quite some time since I have participated in this link up.

Things didn't seem to be flowing well with my plan to move more and eat less.  Then holidays came about and I took complete time off for that.

Anyway, here I am, hopefully back on track.

I had to struggle to figure out a non scale victory to share.  But I decided that it is going to be getting back on track with food logging and packing a pre-planned lunch!

I typically track for a couple days and then loose interest.  My goal is to at least log until my next TOPS meeting next Tuesday.

Here is a picture of the lunch I packed myself for today:


I have some cheese curds, fresh from the cheese factory, some kielbasa, red peppers and cucumber.  Veggie dip and crackers, 3 caramel chocolates from the chocolate factory and 2 peaches.

It's 10:20 am and I am dying to eat this now.  It's my favorite kind of meal...the snacky kind!

The Truth Of Tuesday Night

I had to go back a bit to see when the last time I posted on a Tuesday was.

Turns out it was July 23!  I was on holidays for 2 weeks and wanted a break from it all and last Tuesday I was unable to attend due to prior commitment.

So I went back this week, dreading what the scale had to tell me.  Last time I had been up 1.75 lbs and I didn't image 3 weeks of sitting around and eating could help.

Here are the numbers:

Last time: 244.75 lbs
This week: 245.0 lbs

Gain of .25 lbs

Pretty awesome actually!  I am pleased and once again taking that as a sign to start fresh.  Get back on track and actually focus!

That's my goal, it's time to remember that I am an adult that controls my own future!

This week was pretty tough to get in the exercise I required, but I was also prepared for that.  I was back to work and the week itself was just hectic with appointments a few days over the week and prep work for our first family camping trip.  I knew I would be able to make up for a few steps while we were away and they definitely helped or my deficit would have been even greater!  I need to challenge myself to hit goal again this week!

As you can see, this past week was AWESOME!  It was my second week of holidays.  I got out for a good 45 minute walk 4 days straight.  This was partly due to the fact that I was home with the kids and needed to kill some time with them.  I also quickly learned that I should do it with them  more often.  My 6 year old complained about how far it was and how tired his legs were, begging me to take the short cut home.  By day 3, I told him if he complained one more time, we would do the entire walk all over again!  Which in truth wouldn't happen, because I wouldn't be able to do it.

I haven't really found it in myself to do anything other than walking yet.  I know I should try and switch it up, but I am comfortable and by the end, I am still tired and sweaty!

I am back to work tomorrow....it will be a bit more of a challenge to get over 5 km of exercise in.  I really need to find a routine that works.  Basically, as a family, we need to get back to walking after dinner.  I think we did it for about a week.

Road Trip Review - Week 3

Sorry, it's a day late....I've been on holidays and it is doing me in.  I have lost all track of what day it is and didn't really get in the exercise I had hoped.  In actual fact, I took the week off from anything extra.  The kids were in daycare still, so I used that to my advantage and did some deep cleaning.  My week was also pretty ridden with appointments and I was out pretty much everyday at some point.

Anyhoo, needless to say, I have fallen a bit more behind on my walk.  I promise Julie...I will still be there to meet you!!!  Make sure you pop on over to her blog to check out her progress!

It's not that my km count for the week was terrible, it's just that my eligible count didn't stack up.

My goal for this week is to not be behind in km!  I'm on holidays again with the kids...I should be able to do that.  Just means I am going to have to get my lazy butt off the couch and go for a walk with them.
